Instead of a scale, these flowmeters have a large dial that makes it easy to read the flow rate of your gas from a distance. As gas flows through, it pushes a needle along the dial, showing you the flow rate.These flowmeters are calibrated with air but can be used with other gases. If you’re using these with a gas other than air, you’ll need to calculate the flow rate by multiplying the number shown on the scale by the specific-gravity conversion factor for your gas.Flowmeters with a bronze body should be installed away from other fittings to get the most accurate reading. To determine how far away from the fittings it should be, take your pipe's diameter and multiply it by 10. Choose a direction of flow that matches your pipe system, so you don't have to tilt your head to read the dial.
